Laboratory

Both Richmond Pharmacology's units maintain a dedicated laboratory including a well organised sample preparatory area, dark-out blinds for photosensitive sample preparation, along with standardized equipment required for the preparation and storage of study samples. The Rotanta 460s and Centra® GP8/GP8R centrifuges have speeds up to 5,500rpm and temperature regulation of 1°C within a range of −20°C to +40°C. Cells can be harvested at speeds, temperature and times specific to any protocol. A specialist Vitalab Viva Drug of Abuse analyser is fully automated and makes drug testing on site convenient and quick, ensuring rapid inclusion of study subjects. Richmond Pharmacology maintain storage refrigerators and freezers of both −20°C and −70°C which are closely monitored by the XJ500 alarm system. It records, monitors, and controls temperatures ensuring that samples and reagents are stored at desired temperatures. In the event of any out of range temperature fluctuation, the system triggers an alarm which alerts members of the laboratory team of any potential problem. Laboratory operations and sample preparation is carried out by experienced and trained laboratory personnel who ensure safety and laboratory standards.
