Expert Opinion – Explaining the Evolution

World leading expert speakers from St George's University London, Mayday University Hospital & NHS Trust and the ABPI will outline the new context within which clinical trials are conducted. Innovative new methodology will be reviewed to identify how a CRO can add value to pharmacology and patient studies

Dr Richard Tiner, Medical Director of the ABPI and keynote speaker at the seminar, will outline the current strengths and weaknesses of the UK clinical trials industry, elaborating on how the UK can add value to Early Phase Research and remain competitive in the international arena.

Graham Riddout, Senior Director of DMR, will consider how the UK pharmaceutical industry can create the right environment to capitalize on the new context of Early Phase research, exploring CRO pharmacological set-ups and methodology.

Professor John Camm, Head of Cardiac and Vascular Sciences at St George's University of London, will outline developments within cardiology and in particular QTc studies, with reference to integrating the two Early Phases of research.

Dr Sharon Spencer, Head of Research Development and Enterprise, St George's University of London, will explain the R&D process within the NHS, within the context of Phase I and II clinical trials.

Dr Gary Coulton, Reader in Medical Biomics and Education and Associate Dean for Enterprise and Innovation, will consider the relevance of biomarkers in Early Phase research and in particular, what light this innovative approach can shed on understanding adverse events and avoiding unnecessary cancellation of compound development.
