Richmond Pharmacology, the London-based clinical research organisation specialising in early-phase clinical trials, is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Hurd as Operations Director.

Adam returns to Richmond nearly 20 years after serving as a member of the Senior Leadership team between 2003 and 2006, where he played a key role in rebuilding the participant recruitment function, strengthening organisational performance and leading the company's early brand development. During his time at Richmond, he also supported the launch of the organisation's cardiac safety studies alongside co-founders Dr Jorg Taubel and Dr Ulrike Lorch.

After leaving Richmond, Adam spent almost twenty years leading and growing healthcare services within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). During this time, he founded and led a successful healthcare organisation, overseeing its growth into a business delivering more than 400,000 patient consultations each year across primary and secondary care services.

Adam brings over two decades of experience leading teams in complex healthcare organisations, with expertise spanning operational delivery, organisational growth and service transformation.

Dr Ulrike Lorch, Chief Clinical and Operations Officer and Co-Founder of Richmond Pharmacology, said:

"Adam was part of Richmond during our formative years and understands the values that have shaped the organisation. Over the past two decades, he has built extensive operational leadership experience in healthcare, making him ideally placed to help us strengthen our operations as Richmond continues to grow.
As we continue to deliver increasingly advanced clinical research, Adam's experience will help us strengthen our operations, improve the experience we provide to our sponsors and research participants, and ensure we continue to deliver high-quality studies efficiently and safely."

Adam Hurd commented:

"I'm delighted to be returning to Richmond at such an exciting stage in its journey. The opportunity to help improve how we deliver clinical research, while supporting the development of new medicines for patients, is incredibly motivating. "

Adam will lead Richmond's operational directorate, focusing on continually improving how studies are delivered, supporting teams across the organisation and ensuring Richmond continues to provide an outstanding experience for sponsors, partners and research participants.
