
Dr Matej Goricar is a Medical Director at Richmond Pharmacology and leads one of the interventional study delivery team as a Principal or Sub-Investigator in early- and late-phase clinical trials in both healthy and patient populations. His particular expertise spans gene editing, gene silencing, and antibody modalities, across cardiac, haematological, metabolic, CNS, and other indications.
Matej joined Richmond in 2022, coming from a clinical background in the NHS and abroad, in particular in surgical specialties. He progressed through successive medical leadership roles and was appointed Associate Medical Director in 2024, and Medical Director in 2026.
Since joining, he has been instrumental in the delivery of gene editing, gene silencing, and rare disease trials, supporting the growth of Richmond's advanced-therapeutics portfolio. He was also key in advancing the Continuous Process Improvement developments in Richmond, employing best practices from across industry to support operational excellence. Matej partners with sponsors to accelerate innovation, ensuring uncompromising participant care is matched by meticulous research and compliance standards.
He holds an MD from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and has contributed to a number of scientific publications and presentations.
