
Dr Tom Ashdown is Medical Director at Richmond Pharmacology, providing medical leadership across early-phase clinical trials from first-in-human through to Phase III studies. He oversees the safe and effective delivery of complex clinical research across a broad range of therapeutic areas, ensuring the highest standards of participant safety, scientific integrity and regulatory compliance.
Tom joined Richmond Pharmacology in 2021 as a Specialty Research Physician and has progressed through successive medical leadership roles to become Medical Director. He has extensive experience supporting studies evaluating innovative therapies, including gene editing, RNA-targeted medicines and novel immunological treatments.
A board-certified Pharmaceutical Medicine Consultant, Tom completed Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (PMST) and holds a BSc in Medical Pharmacology. Prior to joining Richmond, he trained in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery within the NHS, bringing valuable frontline clinical experience to early-phase medicine.
Alongside his leadership responsibilities, Tom has a strong interest in research and innovation, contributing to the advancement of early-phase clinical development and the evaluation of emerging therapeutic technologies.
